Power Blackout in Bridport

Two trucks from Western Power Distribution were seen heading to the transformer to replace it at around 4:30PM
Businesses and homes on St Andrews Road and East Street lost power for a couple of hours and power was fluctuating as far afield as Shipton Gorge, Loders and Powerstock.
This was the scene at Lidl on St Andrews Road, where shoppers made their way to the checkouts in the dark.
Yesterday afternoon, a transformer blew near the Moore's Biscuits factory on the Shoe Lane Industrial Estate. A loud bang could be heard by nearby residents and one factory worker said the building shook.
